Who are we?
The Concho Valley Photo Club is a small but growing group of individuals from in and around the Concho Valley who enjoy
making beautiful photographs. Our current membership represents a wide variety of experience, camera types,
and subjects. Among our ranks include studio professionals, published landscape and wildlife specialists,
enthusiastic beginners, and everything in between. Subject matter and gear are second to sharing great work
and learning from our peers. Examples of our member's works are present on this page.
Membership
The Concho Valley Photography Club is open to all photographers residing in the Concho Valley.
We are based in San Angelo, but all individuals in the surrounding areas are welcome to join and
hold membership.
Meetings
Our regular meeting is held the 2nd Saturday of each month in the conference room of the San Angelo
National Bank at 3471 Knickerbocker Road. The informal portion of the meeting where we show recent
work starts at 9:30 AM, with the business portion of the meeting starting roughly 30 minutes later. The
monthly presentation follows immediately after the business portion. After the official close of the
meeting, the majority of the attendees make their way to Baker Street Coffee House to continue conversations
and start new ones.
Past Programs
Our programs are what makes the club special. Some examples of previous programs include basic framing at
a local frame shop, image preservation in the digital age, land and aquatic life of South Africa, and the
advantages and disadvantages of RAW processing.
Shows and Special Events
During the month of February 2008 the club presented a month-long photo exhibit at the University Center Gallery at
Angelo State University. In the past we have gotten together as a club to shoot wildflowers and events such as
Christmas at Ft Concho. We have also made the trek up to Abilene to attend special programs
presented by the West Texas Photographic Society.
Dues
Membership dues are $12 per year, collected annually in January.
Competitions and Assignments
Concho Valley Photo Club does not currently do either. Our philosophy is that our club is
here to help each other through honest comments and critiques that sometimes get lost when
we're worried about who's going to win a prize and what we have to do to meet this month's
assignment. We don't look down on other clubs that do. We just choose not to.
